Barnard celebrates 97th birthday

Eleanor E. Barnard, of Lenoir City, celebrated her 97th birthday Dec. 21.

Mrs. Barnard was born Dec. 21, 1915, in Detroit, Mich., and moved to Tennessee near the end of World War II. She and her late husband, Don Barnard, moved to Lenoir City after retirement in 1985.

Her family includes three children, 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren and at least one more on the way. There are currently eight sets of five-generation groupings.

Mrs. Barnard was employed as a cook and waitress for many years.

She enjoys working crossword puzzles in ink. She still retains an active membership with the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Loudon.
