Alcoa files nuisance complaint against hotels

The city of Alcoa has filed a petition for abatement of nuisaince with Blount County Circuit Court seeking to cease the use of the property at 2962 Alcoa Highway known as the Days Inn/Budget Inn Royal Extended Stay.
According to a press release, the city is seeking to cease the use of the property owned by Mani Associates of Hermitage with the sole general partners being the property managers Jagubhai V. Patel and Bhagu V. Hira.
The petition states the hotels are an “establishment where illegal drugs and quarreling, fights and breaches of the peace are rampant among its patrons and visitors, with full knowledge and approval of the owners and managers of the property and hotels.”
The property has been a haven for fugitives from the law as evidenced by the arrests of 75 wanted persons. The action is being taken as a result of numerous investigations, arrests and police reports of criminal activities over the last several years at the location.
