BREAKING Rescued canoeist identified

The canoeist pulled from the water at the sinks after being
trapped earlier today, has been identified.
Great Smoky Mountains National Park dispatch received an emergency call through Blount County E911 at 12:41 p.m. to report that Steve Senior, 65, of Bridgenorth, Ontario was trapped underwater at the Sinks according to spokeswoman Dana Soehn.
Park units including the rescue unit responded along with the Townsend Fire Department and the Blount County Swift Water Rescue.
Senior was removed from the water, and CPR was performed. Senior was then transported to Blount Memorial Hospital, where he is in critical condition.
At 2:20 p.m., Little River Road was still closed between Metcalf Bottoms and the Y for emergency traffic. More information will be available in Tuesday's print edition of The Daily Times.
