Body found under Bennett Memorial Bridge in Walland

The Blount County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the discovery of a dead body in the Little River at the William M. “Bill” Bennett Bridge this afternoon, officials said.
A pedestrian called E-911 about 2:35 p.m. today after spotting the corpse in the water near the intersection of Tuckaleechee Pike and Old Walland Highway in the Walland community, according to a Blount County E-911 operator.
The Blount County Sheriff’s Office has responded to the scene.
