CSX train strikes, kills Knoxville man in Greenback

GREENBACK -- A 54-year-old Knoxville man was struck and killed by a CSX train early Wednesday morning.

According to a release from Blount County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded shortly after midnight to the 5800 block of Morganton Road near Railway Drive and Cedar Church Lane, to the call of a pedestrian who was struck by a train on the tracks owned by CSX Railroad. Deputies found Scott Alan Bowers, 54, lying beside the railroad tracks. He had no pulse, and was not breathing.

The Blount County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, Greenback Fire Department, and Rural/Metro Ambulance Service also responded to the scene.

The investigation is ongoing, however, no foul play is suspected in Bower’s death.
