Code Orange air quality alert issued until 10 p.m. Friday and from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday

The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation issues an air quality action day for the Knoxville area that will remain in effect until 10 p.m. Friday and from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday.

A Code Orange air quality alert has been issued, meaning ground level ozone concentrations may approach or exceed unhealthy standards. Members of sensitive groups -- active children and adults, people with respiratory disease such as asthma -- should limit prolonged outdoor exertion.
