Fatal accident victim in Maryville identified

By J.J. Kindred | (jj.kindred@thedailytimes.com)

The Maryville woman who was killed in a three-vehicle accident Monday morning has been identified.

Eleanor Bush, 82, Portsmouth Circle, Maryville, was killed as she was driving a 2000 beige Lexus on West Broadway Avenue near the intersection of Sandy Springs Road in Maryville.

The other vehicles involved included a 2011 gray Ford Ranger pickup truck, driven by 25-year-old Sara Harmon of Tallassee, who used the truck as a courier vehicle for Auto Zone on West Broadway; and a 2012 Ford F-450 Super Duty pickup truck, driven by 33-year-old Michael Huffstetler of Gillenwater Road in Maryville, who drove the truck for Rite-Hite Holding Corp. of Charlotte, N.C., as a company vehicle.

Maryville Police Chief Tony Crisp said both Bush’s and Huffstetler’s vehicles were traveling westbound on Broadway, while Harmon’s vehicle was traveling eastbound.

Harmon was transported by Rural/Metro to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where she was listed in stable condition. She was wearing a seat belt and her vehicle’s air bag had deployed, Crisp said.

Huffstetler was taken to Blount Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Crisp said investigators were still investigating to determine the events that led to the crash.
