Heavy smoke blankets apartment complex on Mentor Road in Louisville

Heavy smoke was coming out the windows of an apartment complex at the 1800 block of Mentor Road off Wrights Ferry Road in Louisville this afternoon.

Blount County firefighters and sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the complex at about 2:45 p.m. Several firefighters went inside to the control the smoke, which started inside the walls of the apartment, according to dispatchers. There were no visible flames.

Fire trucks and Sheriff’s Office cruisers were parked along the intersection of Mentor Road and Wrights Ferry Road, causing brief traffic delays.
