Louisville man charged with cruelty to animals, horses seized from property
From Staff Reports
A Louisville man was arrested Wednesday on a charge of cruelty to animals after authorities said he neglected several horses on his property.
James Crafton Ford Jr., 46, Gravelly Hills Road, was released on $1,000 bond pending a 1:30 p.m. July 17 hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court.
Blount County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals investigators seized seven horses from Ford’s Gravelly Hills Road residence Wednesday. The horses were taken to the hospital, and four of them have reportedly since been released and are now being housed at Horse Haven. Two of the horses are still being treated.
Investigators said this is the third time in as many years they have visited Ford’s residence concerning the condition of the horses.
