Police looking for man in connection with burglaries

By Wes Wade | (wes.wade@thedailytimes.com)

Maryville Police are investigating a rash of vehicle burglaries reported early Saturday morning in Maryville.

According to police reports, a suspect has been identified, but has not yet been apprehended in connection with five vehicle break-ins reported on South Maple and Ruth streets and Ora Mae Way.

A total of $1,420 worth of property was reported stolen from two vehicles located outside a residence on Ora Mae Way, including cash, jewelry and electronic items, according to a Maryville Police report. Two vehicles on South Ruth Street were also burglarized, with a $150 GPS unit taken from one and about $10 in quarters stolen from the second vehicle. A fifth vehicle break-in was reported outside a South Maple Street residence during the same timeframe, and although the vehicle had been gone through, nothing was reported missing.

Based on report times for each break-in, the burglaries likely occurred early Saturday morning. Police were able to identify a suspect based on witness statements from residents on South Ruth Street and Sterling Avenue.
