Subway robbery suspect in custody

From Staff Reports

Alcoa Police Department detectives arrested a Rockford man today in connection to an aggravated robbery at a Subway restaurant Tuesday night.

Tony Lee Light, 24, Tammy Circle, Rockford, was arrested by Alcoa detectives on a charge of aggravated robbery. He was also served with several outstanding warrants.

Light was being held without bond pending a Jan. 28 hearing in Blount County Circuit Court.

Alcoa police officers responded to Subway, 2919 Old Knoxville Highway, Alcoa, at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday to a report of a robbery. An employee reported that a man entered the restaurant and ordered a sandwich. When he went to pay, the man handed a note to the employee stating that he had a gun, and demanding that the employee place the cash from the register into a bag. The man then took the money, as well as the sandwich he ordered, from the employee and fled the restaurant in a maroon four-door sedan.
