Tyler Brothers Farm Equipment is turning over the keys to the biggest tractor ever sold in Blount County to the new owners in a ceremony after lunch today.
The Massey Ferguson 8670 has 240 horsepower, holds 100 gallons of diesel fuel and will travel 33 mph, said Kris Tanner, Tyler Brothers service manager.
The third-largest tractor Massey Ferguson makes, it sold for $220,000, compared to the normal Massey Ferguson tractor that has a sticker price of $25,000.
The row crop tractor will be driven to Don Bailey Farm, which is located about five miles west from the dealership on West Lamar Alexander Parkway.
The new owner will be driving the very high-tech tractor home. The tractor has automatic steering, navigation and uses AGCO’s e3 selective catalytic reduction (SCR).
“The special fluid is inserted into the exhaust to keep the tractor from smoking,” Tanner said. “The owner plans to use it to plant corn and disc up the corn fields.”
The 8670, which bears a Made in America metal plate, is straight off the assembly line in Jackson, Minn.
Tyler Brothers is located at 1832 W. Lamar Alexander Parkway in Maryville.
