One person was taken to the hospital after a two-vehicle accident in the 200 block of Blockhouse Road in Maryville Thursday afternoon.
According to Blount County Sheriff’s Office deputies on the scene, a blue Toyota Corolla with three passengers and a white Subaru Legacy Outback station wagon, which had only one passenger, collided head-on, causing the station wagon to flip on its side.
The driver of the Corolla, Aaron Teffeteller, 18, Tuckaleechee Pike, Maryville, was taken via Rural/Metro Ambulance to Blount Memorial Hospital. Teffeteller was treated at the hospital and released. The other two passengers in the vehicle and the driver of the station wagon were unharmed.
The driver of the station wagon, Virginia Hauber, 66, Blockhouse Road, Maryville, had five dogs in the back of her vehicle that were rescued by Blount County firefighters. They were all in cages, firefighters said, and none appeared to be harmed. Firefighters said Hauber was on her way to a dog show when the wreck occurred.
“I don’t know what happened,” Hauber said. “I don’t remember seeing them.” She declined to comment further.
The Blount County Fire Department sent two trucks and five firefighters to the scene.
