Brunswick to close Sea Ray plant in Knoxville
From Staff Reports
Brunswick Corp. is closing its Sea Ray boat-manufacturing facility at Forks of the River Industrial Park in Knoxville.
Production at the plant will cease by the end of 2012, the company announced Tuesday.
The plant currently has a full-time workforce of about 225.
U.S. Production of Sea Ray brand cruisers will be consolidated into the company’s Vonore and Palm Coast, Fla., facilities while producing Bayliner cruisers in Brazil.
Citing trends in the global marine marketplace and the changing needs and desires of today’s boat buyer, Brunswick said its Bayliner boat brand will refine its North American and European product portfolio by focusing on its core bowrider and deckboat models as well as categories new to the brand, such as jet boats.
