Conditions being monitored at McGhee Tyson Airport

By Joel Davis | (joeld@thedailytimes.com)

Conditions at McGhee Tyson Airport are being closely monitored.

They are “not too bad,” said Trevis Gardner, vice president of operations for Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority. “Our pavement temperatures are almost 35 degrees. Air has risen to 28 degrees. They are improving. There is a light drizzle, and the air field conditions .. are no worse than wet. There is no ice or snow accumulating. The craft are de-icing.”

So far, there has been a flight from Atlanta canceled and Delta has canceled a flight from Detroit.

Gardner said he is posting updates about airport conditions online at https://twitter.com/TrevisGardner.
