Cookeville man injured in Alcoa Highway crash

From Staff Reports

A Cookeville man injured in a single-vehicle accident on Alcoa Highway Wednesday morning was taken to the hospital for head pain, police said.

Zachariah R. McPherson, 21, was traveling in the left southbound lane on Alcoa Highway just past Hunt Road when he said his front tire slipped off the roadway into the median, according to the Alcoa Police report.

McPherson overcorrected and lost control of his 1999 Subaru Forester, which struck a guard rail, the report states. The vehicle then flipped off the right side of the road into an embankment, landing right side up. The crash occurred at around 9:41 a.m., police said.

McPherson was wearing his seat belt and no air bags were deployed in the vehicle.

The report said McPherson was taken by Rural/Metro Ambulance to University of Tennessee Medical Center for head pains, but hospital staff had no patient information listed on him.

The Alcoa Fire Department also responded to the scene with one truck and two personnel.
