Fairview Elementary School went into a brief lockdown Wednesday morning following an alleged home robbery.
According to Blount County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Marian O’Briant, the alleged suspect left on foot and was in the area near Old Niles Ferry Road in Maryville, where the school is located.
Officials said it is standard protocol for a school to go into lockdown mode for the safety of the children during searches for suspects in a crime.
The robbery is under investigation.
