Four injured in three-vehicle crash
From Staff Reports
Four people were injured in an accident involving three vehicles Saturday afternoon on Old Knoxville Pike, police said.
According to the Blount County Sheriff’s Office report, Amy Sperling, 27, of Fletcher Street, Maryville, was turning left onto Old Knoxville Pike from First Street when she traveled into the path of an eastbound Pontiac Grand Am driven by Robin Locke, 39, of Ironwood Circle, Maryville. Locke’s vehicle was then knocked into an unoccupied Honda Accord parked in a driveway outside a residence in the 2500 block of Old Knoxville Pike.
Rural/Metro Ambulance Service took both Sperling and Locke to Blount Memorial Hospital (BMH) for treatment. Ishmael Patterson, 19, of Knoxville and Kassie Grimes, 19, of Ironwood Circle, Maryville — passengers in the Sperling and Locke vehicles, respectively — were also taken by ambulance to BMH. Sperling and Patterson were treated and released, hospital staff said, though no patient record was available on Locke or Grimes.
All occupants were wearing their seat belts, and airbags were deployed in Sperling’s Chevrolet Cavalier and Locke’s Grand Am.
