Keown family honored: Opposing fans unite in tribute to young wreck victim

From Staff Reports

There were no lines between pink and purple Friday night at Mike White Field.

Sevier County and William Blount fans stood as one to applaud the family of Amelia Keown, the William Blount junior and dance team spirit leader killed Tuesday in an auto accident.

“For as long as there is a dance team at William Blount, Amelia will be announced as their spirit leader,” the public address announcer said. “She was one in Amelia_ion.”

The William Blount fans came out decked in pink — Keown’s favorite color — and more joined buying pink team Amelia shirts that were being sold to benefit her memorial fund. Buffalo Wild Wings in Alcoa also announced 10 percent of sales Sunday will be donated to the fund.

Sevier County came in their purple, but even some of the visitors were sporting pink by the time “I Can Only Imagine” came over the speakers and pink balloons lifted into the sky just prior to kickoff.
