Man robs ORNL credit union on Clinton Highway in Knoxville

KNOXVILLE — Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect who robbed a Clinton Highway bank early Wednesday evening.
The robbery occurred at around 6 p.m. at the ORNL Federal Credit Union at 6702 Clinton Highway in Knoxville. The suspect entered the bank, said he had a weapon, displayed a note and demanded money, according to a news release from the Knoxville FBI and Knoxville Police Department (KPD).
Witnesses described the suspect as a white male, 35 to 40 years old, about 6 feet 1 inch to 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing about 220 to 230 pounds, with a large build and a brown beard.
He was wearing light colored blue jeans, a red T-shirt, sunglasses and orange hat with a white “T” on the front.
The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of money in a black, full-size Chevrolet pickup truck.
