Man sought in Maryville bank holdup

From Staff Reports

Authorities are seeking the public’s help in catching a man who robbed the Capital Bank in Maryville Wednesday afternoon.

At about 4:10 p.m., the suspect entered the Capital Bank at 403 Foothills Mall Drive and gave the teller a note demanding money.

After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect fled on foot.

He was described as a white male in his late 20s to early 30s, 5 feet, 8 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches tall, average build with brown hair and scruffy facial hair. He was wearing an olive or tan Carhartt-style jacket and blue jeans.

It was not known if the suspect had a weapon. No employees or customers were injured.

Maryville Police Chief Tony Crisp said the Blount County Sheriff’s Office brought in a K-9 search dog to try to track the suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Knoxville FBI at 865-544-0751 or the Maryville Police Department at 865-380-1388. A reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the suspect.
