Man sought in credit union robbery

From Staff Reports

Authorities are searching for a man who robbed a Maryville bank Wednesday afternoon and fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

The robbery occurred at around 1 p.m. at the First Choice Community Credit Union, 2535 E. Broadway Ave.

The suspect is described as a white male in his late 20s to early 30s, between 5 feet, 10 inches and 6 feet, 1 inch tall and weighing 170 to 200 pounds. He has reddish brown hair and a bushy goatee.

He was wearing a light-colored button-down shirt with a dark shirt underneath, blue jeans, a dark gray toboggan with a single black strip and two red stripes above and below the black stripe, and sneakers.

The suspect had a tattoo of a spider on his left hand and an unknown tattoo — possibly some sort of wording — above his left eye.

The man, who left with an undisclosed amount of cash, did not display a weapon during the robbery, the FBI said in a joint news release.

The suspect was seen fleeing to the neighborhood behind the bank and getting into a small, silver SUV, possibly a Saturn Vue, authorities said.

Anyone with information on the robbery or suspect is asked to call the FBI Knoxville Office at 865-544-0751, the BCSO Criminal Investigation Division during normal business hours at 865-273-5001, the Sheriff’s Office 24 hour anonymous crime hotline at 865-273-5200, or leave a tip on the Sheriff’s Office Text-a-Tip link at http://www.bcso.com .

The FBI is offering a reward for information leading to the identity and arrest of the suspect.
