Park crash victim identified
Great Smoky Mountains National Park authorities have released
the identity of a woman killed in a Tuesday accident on Newfound Gap Road just north of Collins
Creek Picnic Area in North Carolina.
The accident involved a 4-door Chrysler SUV which collided with a National Park Service pickup truck.
The driver of the SUV, who was pronounced dead at the scene, has now been identified as 34-year-old Tracy Anderson of Morrice, Mich.
At 2:08 p.m. Tuesday, GSMNP rangers were notified of a two vehicle accident. The park service employees who were involved in the accident were transported to Cherokee Regional Medical Center, treated and released.
Since the accident involved Park Service personnel, the park requested North Carolina Highway Patrol to conduct an investigation into the accident. It is still under investigation.
