A pregnant woman was taken to the hospital after her vehicle crashed on Mentor Road in Louisville Monday evening.
Crystal Mariem Musheen, 30, Briar Road, Maryville, was traveling northeast on Mentor Road at about 7:30 p.m. in a 2005 Ford Focus when she lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a curve near Jones Road, according to Blount County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Marian O’Briant.
The car went into the opposite lane, came back across the road and went off the right side of the road. The vehicle flipped over on its top, and Musheen was partially ejected from the vehicle.
“She basically dropped off the side of the road, and her right arm was laying underneath the car,” said Capt. Jerry Phillips of the Blount County Fire Department, who was on the scene. Firefighters used airbag lifts to raise the vehicle enough to get Musheen’s arm out from under the vehicle.
A landing zone was set up in the back yard of a residence at 2251 Mentor Road, where Musheen was taken via LifeStar to the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Her condition was not known Monday night.
It was not known if Musheen was wearing her seat belt. There were no other passengers in the vehicle, O’Briant said.
