Truck strikes utility pole on Morganton Road
From Staff Reports
A Maryville driver escaped injury Friday afternoon after his truck collided with a utility pole off Morganton Road.
Aaron Yoakum, 30, of Clover Hill Road, was attempting to pass a backhoe in his southbound Chevrolet Silverado at 1:19 p.m. when the backhoe began to turn left into a driveway in the 1800 block of Morganton Road, according to a Blount County Sheriff’s Office report. The truck travelled off the roadway and into the gravel before Yoakum overcorrected and the truck again traveled off the left side of the road, the report states. The truck struck a culvert and then a utility pole on the passenger-side.
While Rural/Metro Ambulance Service personnel checked out Yoakum at the scene, he was not transported to the hospital, the report states.
There were no other occupants in the truck. Yoakum was wearing his seat belt, and no airbags were deployed.
