A U.S. Air Express flight 2467 operated by TSA with 49 people on board made a safe precautionary landing at 2:10 p.m. today at McGhee Tyson Airport.
The plane, which was en route from Charlotte, N.C., to Tallahassee, Fla., was diverted to McGhee Tyson as a precaution after it was thought a tire blew on takeoff, according to a U.S. Airways media relations spokesman.
The plane safely landed and the 46 passengers and three crew members deplaned shortly after landing.
The Federal Aviation Administration tower was notified at 1:40 p.m. today that McGhee Tyson was asked to take precautionary standby measures, said Tyson spokesperson Becky Huckaby.
After deplaning, U.S. Air officials were making plans for passengers to resume their flight to Tallahassee.
TSA is the express carrier for U.S. Airways.
