Victim injured after motorcycle goes off embankment

From Staff Reports

A man was airlifted to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after his motorcycle crashed down an embankment on “The Dragon.”

The Blount County Fire Department was dispatched to the scene of the crash — near Mile Marker 4 — at 2:46 p.m. Two rescue trucks and two pickup trucks carrying five firefighters arrived at 3:33 p.m.

Firefighters hoisted the man back up to the road after he and his motorcycle traveled about 30 feet down an embankment.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol worked the accident, although a report was not immediately available Tuesday night.

Rural/Metro Ambulance Service took the man to a Lifestar helicopter waiting nearby.

Firefighters cleared the scene at 4:44 p.m.

The Blount County Rescue Squad also responded.
