Walland man in wheelchair taken to hospital after accident

A Walland man was taken to University of Tennessee Medical Center Thursday after a vehicle backed into his electrical wheelchair in an Alcoa parking lot.
Jeremiah Stansbury, 33, Old Walland Highway, was transported to UT Medical Center via Rural/Metro Ambulance Service after the accident late Thursday afternoon.
A Nissan Murano driven by Carol H. Wicks, 51, Defoe Circle, Maryville, was backing from a parking stall outside East Tennessee Medical Group, 266 Joule Street, Alcoa, just before 5 p.m. Thursday when the vehicle struck the electrical wheelchair Stansbury was in. The Alcoa Police report notes that Stansbury was not knocked out of the chair, nor was it knocked over before the vehicle could stop.
He requested transportation after complaining of pain in his left elbow and forearm area, the report notes. Officers noted that he did not have any visible injuries.
Hospital staff could not immediately be reached concerning his condition.
