Alcoa man, Luttrell woman face charges in rape, aggravated sexual battery of young child
From Staff Reports
An Alcoa man and Luttrell woman face charges in the
rape and aggravated sexual battery of a young child following an Alcoa Police Department
investigation.
According to an APD release, the investigation began
following a referral from the Department of Children’s Services in June regarding the report of
possible inappropriate sexual conduct with a young child. During the investigation the child
identified Nicholas James Orchid, 27, Lakeview Court, Louisville, as the
suspect.
After several failed attempts to meet with Orchid at the police
department, detectives made contact with the suspect at his Lakeview Apartments residence. Orchid
initially denied the allegations and agreed to a polygraph, which later led to a confession that he
did have unlawful physical contact with the young child on at least one
occasion.
Detectives obtained a search warrant for Orchid’s residence,
which was conducted with the assistance of investigators from the Blount County Sheriffs Office
Hi-Tech Evidence and Technology (HEAT) Unit.
Investigators are continuing
to collect forensic evidence from items obtained during the search.
Upon further
investigation, detectives discovered that Kristi Lonetta Lundin, 30, Luttell, was also linked to the
crimes against the child.
Alcoa Police Department detectives charged
Orchid with rape of a child and aggravated sexual battery.
He was held in
lieu of bonds totaling $125,000 at the Blount County Jail. Lundin was charged with facilitation of
aggravated sexual battery and failure to report child sexual abuse, and was held on bonds totaling
$55,000. Both Orchid and Lundin are scheduled to appear at 9 a.m. Dec. 13 in Blount County General
Sessions Court to address the charges.
Alcoa Police Detective Kris
Sanders said the investigation of Orchid and Lundin is continuing, and additional charges are
pending. Anyone with additional information is urged to call Sanders at
