Ann Strong Elliott Watson
Ann Strong Elliott Watson, of South Knoxville and Oak Ridge, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2013, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. Ann was born June 5, 1924, to Edward John Elliott and Josephine Strong Elliott. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Rule Watson Jr.; her parents; brother, Richard (Dick) Elliott; and much-loved, lifelong friends, Barbara Lennon, Betty Jo Cabe, Charlotte Shea, and Libby Huff. She was a lifelong member of Graystone Presbyterian Church where she previously served as deacon. She loved her church and her church family. She was a loving, caring woman, devoted friend, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. While we will mourn her passing, we will rejoice in the fact that she is with our Heavenly Father and reunited with her beloved family and cherished friends. Ann is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Watson Teague; her son-in-law, Ronald Teague, whom she dearly loved; son, James R. Watson III; brother, Johnny W. Elliott; her cherished grandchildren, John D. Brown and wife Carla Sue, Patrick James Brown and Emily, Bradley Teague, James R. Watson IV and wife Kristin, and Celeste Watson; great-grandchildren, Travis Brown, Bradley King, Chance Mullins, Chloe Perkins, Aiden Brown, Kaylen Teague, James Watson V, Charles Watson, Katlyn Martin, and Trinity Martin; several nieces and nephews; lifelong friends, Charlie and Mary Gene Roberts, Gene Huff, and Lorene Perry; special friends, Suzie and Glenn Bateman; and friend and caregiver, Faye Carroll. Receiving of friends will be Thursday, January 10, 2013, at Graystone Presbyterian Church at 139 Woodlawn Pike in Knoxville from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. with services to follow with Rev. Ann Brunger and Andy Bateman officiating. A private graveside service will be held on Friday, January 11, 2013, at noon at Woodlawn Cemetery. In showing Ann’s love for the Native American culture, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Little Wound Middle School, Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota.
