Wayne was retired from the City of Alcoa, where he was known as “Wayne-Wayne” and was blessed to have many wonderful friends there and also at Home Depot where he had worked part time. He was an excellent carpenter/builder, having built and remodeled several homes of his own with the help of his “talented crew,” his family. Preceded in death by his parents, Bronce and Mamie Tilley Clark; brothers, Robert and Ronnie Clark; sisters, Margaret Bailey and Brenda Quinn; mother in law, Lorene Odom, whom he affectionately called “Maw,” and she always referred to him as “John, her favorite son-in-law.” Left to cherish his memory “his precious,” wife of 52 years, Betty; loving daughter, Robin (Rick) Owen; sons, Tony (Sharon), Scott (Teresa), Jeffrey (Jeannie), Chris (Valerie) Clark; grandchildren, Cameron, Brittany, Corey, Alex, Aaron, Alisha, and Layne; great granddaughter, Bree and “adopted” son, Charlie “Poncho” Martinez; brothers, Don (Velma) and Tim Clark; sisters, Wanda (Ellis Rae) Ross, Dicie Allen, Dorothy (Ronnie) Keeble, Mary (Bill) Lambert, Sandy (Lynn) Campbell. Special thanks to the employees of Blount Discount Pharmacies, along with other friends and family, for all their kindness including the food they provided for us. He will be greatly missed by our former Maggie Street neighbors and now our River Run neighbors, especially his “buddy” Shelby Hall. Without doubt, Wayne was a good man, but above all, he was a child of God who has gone home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Make A Wish East TN, 510 S. Willow Street, Chattanooga, TN 37404. Graveside service and interment will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Clark’s Grove Cemetery, Rev. Charles Ballard officiating.
