Barbara L. Downey, 82, passed away February 20, 2012, at Asbury Place, Maryville. Barbara was a member of Everett Hills Baptist Church, Maryville, for several years. Preceded in death by husband, Joe J. Downey; brother, L.A. Freels; parents, Leonard Albert and Helen Freels. Survived by sons, Michael J. Downey and Jeffrey F. Downey; as well as sister Jimmy and brother-in-law Gerald Harrison. Also survived by nephews, Jerry and Mark Harrison; nieces, Leeann and husband Michael Pfeiffer, Janet and husband James Campbell. Survived by numerous great-nieces, nephews and several friends. A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, February 23, 2012, in the Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. Ted Witchen officiating. Family and friends will assemble on Friday, February 24, 2012, at 2 p.m. in Grandview Cemetery for the Interment service. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday, February 23, 2012, in the Smith Trinity Chapel.
