Bertha Ophelene ‘Tootsie’ Cannon Sparks

Bertha Ophelene “Tootsie” Cannon Sparks, age 83, of Maryville, passed away Monday, January 14, 2013, at Asbury Place. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and a longtime church organist and pianist. Tootsie loved life, her family and her Lord and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis A. Sparks; parents, Charles and Matilda Cannon; brothers, Rue, Beryl, Leon and Joe Cannon; sister, Imogene Cannon Downey. Survivors include her brother, Hubert Cannon of Alcoa; sons, Rick Sparks of Taylors, S.C., Danny Sparks of Stockbridge, Ga., Randy Sparks of Maryville; grandchildren, Amber Sparks, Lauren Sparks Bayne and Ryan Sparks of Maryville; great-grandson, Maddox Bayne. The family would like to thank Sterling House Assisted Living and Asbury Place in Maryville and their staffs for their kindness to Tootsie and her family. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Alvin Patton and Rev. Ben Ward officiating. The interment will follow at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home.
