Betty Jo Steele
Betty Jo Steele, age 80, of Vonore, widow of Don W. Steele, Sr., passed away 6:18 a.m. Saturday, October 6, 2012, at Fort Loudoun Medical Center. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and she loved her church family. Retired from Sweetwater Hospital, she also worked for many years in food service at Teddy Bear Restaurant, Lamp Post Restaurant and the Hillbilly Restaurant. Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Shari and Bruce Hunt, of Jekyll Island, Ga.; sons and daughters-in-law, Don Steele, Franklin and Pam Steele, Joey and Casie Steele, all of Vonore; grandchildren, Carla Jo and Tyler, B.J. and Michaela, Joshua, Tillman and Haleigh, Crissy, Brandon and Maria, Stephen, Chris, Cody, Betty Lou, River; great-grandchildren, Logan, Gracie, Tristan, Hayley Jo, Beckham, Mattie, Maddox, Miley, Xavier, Konstance; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Stateham, Atlanta, Ga.; several nieces and nephews; her Mt. Zion Baptist Church family and all the others she took into her home to feed, love and raise. She loved them dearly. Preceded in death by parents, Carl and Rosella Stateham, granddaughter, Hayley Nicole Steele, brother, Franklin Stateham, niece, Lesa Parris. Funeral 8 p.m. Monday, Biereley-Hale Chapel, Rev. Dennis Robinson, Rev. Tommy Self officiating. Interment 11 a.m. Tuesday, Union Grove Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Madisonville.
