Byron Francis (Bop) McClure Jr.
Byron Francis (Bop) McClure Jr., 63, of Glen Fork, W.Va., formerly of Leesburg, Fla., and Maryville, went to be with his heavenly Father on Monday, April 29, 2013. Born Jan. 2, 1950, at Port Wentworth, Ga., he was the son of the late Genevieve McClure Paul and his father, Byron McClure Sr. Byron was a Navy veteran and served on the USS Enterprise and the USS Kitty Hawk as a hydraulic mechanic for aircraft. After serving his country, he served his community as a deputy sheriff, firefighter, and paramedic in the states of Florida and Tennessee. He loved rebuilding his ‘88 Ford pickup (the grey ghost) and more than anything else, he loved spending time with his son and three beautiful grandchildren who gave his life joy and meaning. Survivors include his son, Byron Justin McClure, age 27, and daughter-in-law, Alicia Trail McClure, age 25; his grandchildren, Austin, age 5, Alivia, age 3, and Addison (Addy Bear) age 7 months, all of Glen Fork. He is also survived by his ex-wife and mother of his only child, Linda McClure. A celebration of Byron’s life will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2013, in the Calfee Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Cecil Thompson, Rev. Tanya Smith and Rev. Darrell Stapleton officiating. The family will receive friends from noon until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, W.Va. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Wyoming County Honor Guard.
