Carolyn Bollinger, 87, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home in Englewood, Fla., on Sunday, March 31, 2013. Her husband and family were by her side. Carolyn and her husband, Dr. John Bollinger, moved to Englewood from Blount County in 1987. Born Mary Carolyn Thomas in Knoxville in 1925, she attended Rule High School in Knoxville and was a graduate of Tusculum College in Greeneville. While at Tusculum, she met her husband and they married in 1946. She is survived by her devoted husband, John of 66 years; her loving daughters, Teri (and Don) Burns, Ellen (and Don) Wang, and Ginny (and Chris Hamilton) Bollinger; her beloved grandchildren, Erin and John; sister-in-law, Mrs. Elsie Kimble of Tierra Verde, Fla., and cousin, Dr. Clarence Nabors of Morristown, Tenn. She will be fondly remembered for her devotion to family, steadfast patience with her children, smile, beautiful singing voice, mastery on the piano, artistry with a paintbrush and spontaneous moments of whimsy. She will be missed by family and friends alike. A private inurnment will be held on Friday, April 5, 2013, at Gulf Pines Memorial Park and Cemetery in Englewood. Arrangements are being made by Lemon Bay Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Englewood, Florida.
