Cleophas Lobelia (Pappy) Franklin

Cleophas Lobelia (Pappy) Franklin, born April 13, 1920, passed away February 4, 2013, at his home. He attended Maryville College, retired from ALCOA after 35 years of service, and was a member of the ALCOA 25 Year Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Byrd Franklin; parents, C.L. and Anna Franklin; sisters, Mary Farmer and Pauline Buchanan. Survivors include children and spouses, Jane Franklin, Judy (Ronnie) Hudson, Jean (Andy) McCall, and Don (Jerry) Franklin; grandchildren and spouses, Jeff (Lotta) Denton, Jamie (Rex) Lynch, Dayna (Ted) Streussnig, Kelly (Todd) Tiller, Kent Hudson, Leigh (David) Black, Janna (Brook) Nash, Lori (Lee) Martin, Adam McCall, Jennifer (Tim) Rodgers, and David (Yvette) Franklin; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Anna, Sofia, and Jens Denton, Jake and Clint Lynch, Lindsey Pennington, Ella and Betsy Tiller, Reagan Hudson, Elijah and Josiah Black, Josie, Clare, and Betsy Lane Nash, Allayna and Andrew Martin, Sadie and Brentlea Rodgers, Rachel, Nehemiah, and Elizabeth Franklin; brother, John (Betty) Franklin; sister, Barbara Jenkins; sister-in-law, Imogene King; brother-in-law, Kenneth Byrd; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and special friends. A very special thanks to the eight nurses and two doctors from Blount Memorial Hospice who assisted with Pappy’s care in a compassionate, loving, encouraging, and professional manner. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 9, 2013, in the fellowship hall of Axley’s Chapel United Methodist Church on Axley’s Chapel Road in Greenback from 2-4 p.m. with a celebration of life service to follow conducted by Reverend Rich Carnes.
