Ernie Tallent

Ernie Tallent, age 92, of Maryville, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2013. He was born December 26, 1921. Ernie served as Blount County Commissioner and was a decorated WWII veteran, serving in the Army in the European Theater. Among other engagements, he saw action in the Battle of the Bulge and was instrumental in establishing the Blount County WWII Battle of the Bulge Veterans Memorial at the Maryville courthouse. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Tallent; parents, Ernest and Margaret Humphries Tallent; stepfather, Grady Jewel; brothers and sisters-in-law, Barron and Fannie Tallent, Gordon and Gladys Tallent, and Dave and Elaine Tallent; and sister, Opel Marie Tallent. He is survived by his daughters, Connie Barrett and Colleen King; two grandsons; three great-grandchildren; brother, Aaron Doug Tallent; sister, Margaret Fain; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel with the interment to follow at Little Tellico Baptist Church Cemetery, Rev.
