Irene Elizabeth Rines Carper
Irene Elizabeth Rines Carper, age 88, of Knoxville, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, June 22, 2012. She was a member of Buffat Heights Baptist Church for more than 50 years and loved her church family. She had served as Sunday school teacher, treasurer and was active in the WMU. She loved to sit and read to Dayton and Micah, two of her great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Roger K. Carper; parents, W.O. and Elizabeth Rines; sisters, Cora Watkins of Talbott, Ida White and Edith Huggins, both of Knoxville, and Kay Staley of Texas. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and John Slover of Knoxville, Bonnie Hitch of Powell and George Lovelace, Barbara Huddleston of Knoxville and Billie and Reverend Moses Moore of Walland; grandchildren, Franklin Lynn Sanders, Wade Dickens and Juanita Roberts, Laura Brown and Randy and Marie Carper; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; special friends, Myrna Wolfenabrger, Helen Purdom and David and Lillian Oxendine; special neighbors, Ruth McMahan, Linda Long, the Brown family and the Stilwell family. A funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel with David Oxendine and Pastor David Thomas officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at Highland South Memorial Park on Chapman Highway for an 11 a.m. interment service.
