James Jay Johnston

James Jay Johnston, age 85, of Friendsville, went to be with his Savior Jesus Christ Monday, July 9, 2012. He was born in Johnson City, Tenn., May 14, 1927, to Andrew and Mary Cook Johnston. He was a member of Hickory Valley Baptist Church. He worked for Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company in Maryland before transferring to South Central Bell in Tennessee. He worked for the telephone company as a repair technician for 30 years before retiring. He was also a veteran of World War II serving in the Navy. He is survived by wife, Ruby Louise Cox Johnston; daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Bobby Farrington of Friendsville; granddaughter, Miranda Presley of Vonore; great grandchildren, Madysen and Shady Presley of Vonore. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2012, at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 8 p.m. with Rev.
