James ‘Jim’ Lee Carpenter
James “Jim” Lee Carpenter, age 65, of Maryville, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2012, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Carpenters Campground United Methodist Church, worked for Blount County school system for 30 years as a CTE auto mechanics instructor. He was an avid sports fan, loved camping, was an antique collector and farmer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elishia S. Carpenter; parents, Clinton and Elizabeth Dodd Carpenter; and brother, Tommy Carpenter. Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Kristi and Randy Byrd, II, Misti and Greg Heath; grandchildren, Chloe and Tanner Heath, Elishia and Jamie Byrd; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and John Cannon; mother-in-law, Ruth Webb; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dee and James Carver; several nieces and nephews; special companion, Jake; special friend, Virgie Goins. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at Carpenters Campground United Methodist Church. Family and friends will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Carpenters Cemetery for a graveside service with Rev. Kenneth Tucker and Josh Byrd officiating.
