James ‘Jim’ Lee Carpenter

James “Jim” Lee Carpenter, age 65, of Maryville, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2012, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Carpenters Campground United Methodist Church, worked for Blount County school system for 30 years as a CTE auto mechanics instructor. He was an avid sports fan, loved camping, was an antique collector and farmer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elishia S. Carpenter; parents, Clinton and Elizabeth Dodd Carpenter; and brother, Tommy Carpenter. Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Kristi and Randy Byrd, II, Misti and Greg Heath; grandchildren, Chloe and Tanner Heath, Elishia and Jamie Byrd; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and John Cannon; mother-in-law, Ruth Webb; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dee and James Carver; several nieces and nephews; special companion, Jake; special friend, Virgie Goins. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at Carpenters Campground United Methodist Church. Family and friends will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Carpenters Cemetery for a graveside service with Rev. Kenneth Tucker and Josh Byrd officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heritage Vocational CTE Program, 3741 E. Lamar Alexander Parkway, Maryville, TN 37804.
