James Ozias Ropp
James Ozias Ropp, 70, of Cornelius, N.C., died Saturday, May 11, 2013, at the Levine-Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, N.C., after a long and courageous battle with brain cancer. He was born in Bloomington, Ill., the son of the late Cornelius Ropp and was raised in Gibson City, Ill. He was a teacher at East Leyden High School in Franklin Park, Ill., for 33 years until he retired to Friendsville, TN. Survivors include his wife, Harolyn Treadwell Ropp of Cornelius, N.C.; a daughter, Christina Dowell and husband Robert of Mebane, N.C.; a son, Douglas Ropp of Charlotte; his mother, Lidabelle Dever Ropp of Maryville, TN; a sister, Cornelia Cramer of Gibson City, Ill.; and two grandchildren, Kayla and Annabelle Dowell. He was preceded in death by a sister, Celia Ropp. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at 11 a.m., at Mt. Zion Community Cemetery in Cornelius.
