Joe H. Burton
Joe H. Burton, age 92, of Maryville, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ June 30, 2012. He was born in Loudon, Tenn., August 7, 1919, to Henry and Grace Curtis Burton. He was a member of Monte Vista Baptist Church. He retired from ALCOA Aluminum Co. after about 45 years of service. He was honorably discharged from the Navy after serving in WWII. He is preceded in death by wife, Elizabeth Tutterrow Burton; sisters, Mary Ella Hooker, Willie Ruth Kirkland, and Charlotte Hodge. He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Marcena Burton of Signal Mountain, Tenn., Lloyd and Shirley Burton of Knoxville; daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Carl Yarber of Sweetwater, Tenn.; grandchildren, Stephen Yarber of Nashville, Tenn., Kim and Dr. Tom Oliver of Macon, Ga., Todd and Sheila Yarber of Athens, Tenn., Dr. Marcie (Burton) and Don Davis of Signal Mountain, Tenn., Allan and Valerie Burton of Birmington, Ala., April and Greg Shepherd of Clinton, Tenn., Tricia and Shane Robbins of Tupelo, Miss., Wayne and Erin Burton of Jersey City, N.J., Wendy and Les Crouch of Franklin, Tenn.; 28 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2012, at Monte Vista Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Monte Vista Baptist Church, Rev. Jerry Mantooth officiating. The graveside and interment service will follow at Unitia Cemetery. Pallbearers will include the grandchildren and the honorary pallbearers will include his Sunday school class from Monte Vista Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Monte Vista Baptist Church, 1735 Old Niles Ferry Road, Maryville, TN 37803. Arrangements have been completed with Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.
