Joseph Martin Tipton
Joseph Martin Tipton, age 52, of Seymour, died suddenly on Monday, September 3, 2012, at LeConte Medical Center in Sevierville. Joe was a union carpenter for 30 plus years and a world traveler while working. He had a love for building things, loved camping, and spending time with family and friends. He was a great father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, and was referred to by most he knew as “Uncle Joe.” He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bell Tipton; father, Carl Tipton; sisters, Dee Sheffler, Sue Myers; brothers, Lewis Myers and Donald Ray Myers. Survivors include his son, Wesley Gulley; daughter-in-law, Katherine Clark; grandchildren, Madison and Weston Gulley; sisters, Kathy Day and Grace Pool; brother, Mark Tipton; special niece, Stephanie “Hornet” Swayney-Buchanan; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was loved by many. A private family viewing and gathering was held at Dotson Funeral Home, followed by cremation. No public services are scheduled at this time.
