Joyce V. Parker
Joyce V. Parker, age 96, of Maryville, formerly of Johnstown, Pa., went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, January 20, 2013, at a local healthcare facility. The daughter of Thomas Gladstone and Edna (Boyle) Watkins, she was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 54 years, Richard James; stepson, Richard Dean; grandson, Gerald Wayne Coughenour; brother, Tommy Watkins; sister, Kathryn Taylor. Survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Gary Bonner of Maryville, Betty and Don Coughenour of Knoxville; sister, Shirley Chamberlain of Winona Lake, Ind.; sister-in-law, Lois Watkins of Tavares, Fla.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren. Joyce had a lovely alto voice and was part of a trio called “The Harmony’s Three.” They sang on the radio and at many civic programs in Johnstown. She was a former member of Riverside Grace Brethren Church of Johnstown, where she was an active member. Joyce and her husband shared the joy of camping. She cherished her family, and was a faithful prayer warrior. She loved to read Christian novels. She was a member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church, Knoxville. Private service with interment will be held Thursday, January 24, 2013, at Richland Cemetery, Johnstown, Pa. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joyce’s memory to Knox Area Rescue Ministries, P.O. Drawer 3310, Knoxville, TN 37927-3310.
