Leona Hunter Burgner

Leona Hunter Burgner, age 98, of South Knoxville, passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at home. Leona was a member of Pecks Memorial United Methodist Church. She was the daughter of Samual and Lizzy Perkins Vars. Preceded in death by husbands, Oscar Hunter and Ray Burgner; sister, Violet Gormley; brother, Belmont Vars; and nephew, James Vars. Survived by nieces, Alleen Powlus of Maryville, Helen Caldwell of Knoxville, and Betty Julian of Baskin Ridge, N.J.; special friends, Jack Mathis, Linda Warren, and Della Foster. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 14, 2013, at Berry Funeral Home, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Family and friends will meet Friday, February 15, 2013, at Pecks Memorial United Methodist Church Cemetery, on Wilkinson Pike, Maryville, for a 2 p.m. graveside service, Rev.
