Lincoln M. Johnson
Lincoln M. Johnson, age 97, died January 15, 2013. He was born August 2, 1915, in Worcester, Mass., where he attended Clark University. He graduated from Maryville College in 1938. He was a retiree of the former Norton Company, now St. Gobain Corp. During his career, he worked in Worcester, Mass., was transferred to Detroit, Mich., then to Los Angeles, Calif., where he retired in 1973. After his retirement, he moved to Mesa, Ariz., for 14 years before finally returning to Maryville in 1987. He was a Mason for 74 years and a member of the Rufus Putnam Lodge A.F.&A.M. in Rutland, Mass. He was also a member locally of the Cypress Commandery Knights Templar. He was on the board of the Sam Houston Memorial Schoolhouse in Maryville for 24 years, retiring in 2010. He was a member of New Providence Presbyterian Church where he had served on the Board of Deacons. Preceding him in death were his parents, Bror and Hilma Johnson, who had emigrated from Sweden in 1900; his first wife, Grace Kerley Johnson; second wife, Victoria Samburg McClelland Johnson; and his brother, Stanley. He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Lois and Peter Wilson, Akron, Ohio; daughter, Ruth Cosby, Debary, Fla.; grandchildren, Craig (Jennifer) Wilson, Anne (Christopher) Ramsey, Mark (Kara) Wilson; and seven great-grandchildren, Zachary and Beth Wilson, Nicholas Yocono, Peter and Ethan Ramsey, Laina and Celia Wilson. After a private graveside service, a memorial service will be held at New Providence Presbyterian Church on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Lincoln wished for memorial gifts to be made to his beloved Maryville College, Advancement Planning, 502 E.
