Margaret Anne Drake Bryan

Margaret Anne Drake Bryan, age 83, of Maryville, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation. She attended Maryville College, was a graduate of UT and received her master’s degree in early child education from ETSU. She taught kindergarten, middle and high school over the course of her career and was active in Bread for the World, Women in Black and other social justice groups. Mrs. Bryan was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Dr. Charles M. Bryan; and parents, James H. and Florence Drake. Survivors include her daughters, Nancy Bryan and Katherine (Robert) Burns; five grandchildren, Katharine, Julianna and Bryan Parks and Rowan and Claire Derry; three great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 3-4:30 p.m. Saturday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Broadway United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Maynard officiating. The interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Latvia in Mission Together program of the Maryville District of the United Methodist Church, a reflection of the Bryans’ experiences traveling in Latvia and Estonia.
