Muriel W. (Putt-Putt) Fields

Muriel W. (Putt-Putt) Fields, age 93, of Knoxville, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at Tennova Residential Hospice. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a World War II veteran, a 32nd degree Mason and past master of Solar Lodge #914 F&AM in Huntsville, Ala., and a member of the Shriners Cahaba Temple. Muriel and Mary moved to Rockford, Tenn., to be near Mary’s parents, James and Nona Lyon, where he was employed by Rockford Mfg. Co. for 18 years and returned to Huntsville in 1964 where he was employed by TVA Belfonte Nuclear Plant until his retirement. He is preceded in death by parents, Claude and Bennie (Sadler) Fields; brothers, James, Bill, Bob and Donnell, all of Huntsville, Ala.; sister, Katherine Sherrill of Knoxville; grandson, Tim Sands of Maryville; daughter, Sandra Sands of Huntsville; and the love of his life, Mary (Lyon) Fields. Survivors are daughters, Donna Creswell (John) of Maynardville, Jan Drewry (Chip) of Huntsville; son, Ron Fields (Linda) of Huntsville; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff of Morningside Assisted Living in Madison, Ala., Elmcroft Assisted Living of Halls, Renaissance Terrace Assisted Living of Knoxville, and Tennova Residential Hospice of Halls for the loving care given to our father. Graveside funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2013, at Huntsville Memory Gardens in Huntsville, Ala.
