Reese M. Wills, Sr.
Reese M. Wills, Sr., age 94, of Maryville, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Asbury Place, Maryville, following an extended illness. He was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Reese was a native of Baltimore, Md., having retired with his wife of 74 years, Cartha Charlton Wills, to Maryville 20 years ago. He was a 40-year employee of Lockheed Martin and was an avid horologist. As a member of Tennessee Valley, Chapter 42, of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, he continued to further his knowledge of horology. His outgoing and witty personality was enjoyed by all. He was preceded in death by his parents. Walter Bruce and Elizabeth Cornelius Wills; sister, Katharine Wills Nickey; sister, Dorothy Wills Guernsey; and brother, The Rev. Dr. Robert Wills. He is survived by his wife, Cartha; son, the Rev. Reese M. Wills, Jr. (Eleanor) of Maryville; daughter, Ann Griffith (Bill) of Sykesville, Md.; son, Charles Wills (Debbi) of Welby, Colorado; daughter, Debi Wills McDermott (Mac) of Denham Springs, La.; grandchildren, Karen Velez, Bill Griffith, Jr., John Wills, Rodger Wills, Debi Lynn Kaas, Michelle Morrison, Heath Kramer, Brandi Savoy; and seven great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sister, Mary Wills Larson (the Rev. Robert); and sister-in-law, Alice Dix Wills. The family wishes to thank Blount Memorial Hospice and Palliative Care and Asbury Place staff and employees for their caring service. Friends will be received Saturday, April 6, 2013, from 2 until 3 p.m.: a service to follow at the Broadway United Methodist Church, Maryville.
